Technology has been changing over the years, especially in the education field. This past year all classes had to go virtual. This was something new to all educators k-12 and for students too. The question is, how can educators make education more accessible to students? Podcasting is something to consider making learning more attainable.
A podcast has a structure and style that is similar to a radio talk show, and it can be accessed via an iPod or MP3 player. You can also make a podcast downloadable through a regular computer, tablet, or smartphone (Weobong, 2016). This is ideal for teachers and students because it is free and is a great way to have commutation with students. Having a podcast for your classroom has many advantages and gives the educators an opportunity to record their lessons and convert them into audio or video discussion. A podcast is beneficial for students who have visual impairments, it helps the student to understand the content. According to the article called Podcasting in Education by Gray, “many learning institutions which have incorporated podcasting in their education system, have reported really positive results”. It has many benefits that come with it, for example, it gives the students an opportunity to view the podcast 24 hours a day, educators can create a private podcast to be accessible for students only, the student can listen to podcast longer and process the content at their own pace, and it can also help students review missed lecture class (Gray,2107).
Podcasting is very beneficial and can be used in many different ways, that I was not aware of. In my opinion, podcasting is a great thing to incorporate into your classroom. I’m excited to learn more about podcasting and its many beneficial uses. I will provide a link for future references on how to use podcasting.
